Executive Chair of the University of Warwick’s Innovation District. From 2025, he serves as Chair of the Japan Society and Chair of the Society of Chemical Industry. He was Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (2016–2019), Communities and Local Government (2015–2016), and Minister for Universities and Science (2014–2015), and chaired the Science, Innovation and Technology Select Committee in the last Parliament.
